Seungyon Kim 김승연
작곡가 김승연은 서울대학교 음악대학 및 동대학원에서 작곡을 전공후 모차르테움 국립음대를 수학하였다. (사사 전상직, Reinhard Febel)
Michael Finnissy, Unsuk Chin, Wolfgang Motz, David Ludwig, Johannes Schöllhorn, David Lang의 마스터 클래스, 창악회(Contemporary Music Society in Seoul) 작곡 워크샵, TIMF Academy in Bangkok, Ensemble Intercontemporain의 리딩 세션 등에 참가하였다.
그의 작품은 독일, 오스트리아, 스페인, 미국, 태국 등지에서 현대음악 전문연주단체 Ensemble Avanture, Zahir Ensemble, Ensemble Timf, Ensemble Names 및 전문연주자들에 의해 연주된 바 있다.
인지에 기반한 음향적 풍경에 의한 심상과 구조화된 시간에 의해 인간존재를 탐구하는 작품들을 써오고 있으며, 현재 그는 인간의 감성적 측면의 표현을 위하여 화성적 소재의 네트워크 체계를 연구하고 있다. 또한 그는 악기 고유의 소리 특성의 재발견을 위해 연주자들과 독주악기를 위한 작품들을 작업해 왔으며, 미술영역과의 콜라보레이션 작업에도 관심을 가지고, 전시와 함께하는 화음(畵音, Hwaum) 페스티벌에서 연주된 <Ceremonial Dance: John Kelly의 Muse Ascending a Staircase에 부쳐>, 화가 박신영과 미술과 음악 사이의 인터랙티브한 작업방식을 시도한 <Skéné: Secluded Selves>와 같은 작품으로도 활동하였다.
Composer Seungyon Kim studied composition at the Music Department and Graduate School of Seoul National University, and subsequently studied at Mozarteum University Salzburg. He is currently pursuing a PhD in music and composition at Seoul National University.(under the guidance of Prof. Sangjik Jun and Reinhard Febel)
Kim has participated in masterclasses by Michael Finnissy, Unsuk Chin, Wolfgang Motz, David Ludwig, Johannes Schöllhorn, David Lang, workshops by the Contemporary Music Society in Seoul, and the TIMF Academy in Bangkok, as well as reading sessions with the Ensemble Intercontemporain.
His works have been performed by various contemporary music ensembles and performers, including Ensemble Avanture, Zahir Ensemble, Ensemble Timf, Ensemble Names, and others in Germany, Austria, Spain, the United States, and Thailand.
Kim's works explore the existence of human beings through poetic auditory imagination and structured time based on cognition. Recently, he has been researching the network system of harmonic materials for the expression of human emotional aspects. He also has been working on pieces for solo instruments that rediscover the unique sound characteristics of each instrument in collaboration with performers. He is also interested in collaborative works with artists and has presented pieces such as "Ceremonial Dance: John Kelly's Muse Ascending a Staircase" at the Hwaum Festival, which explores the interactive relationship between music and art, as well as "Skéné: Secluded Selves" in collaboration with the painter Shinyoung Park.
