Intermezzo No.2

우리의 삶 속에서, 

삶의 시간이 우리를 스쳐 지나간다.

우리의 생각은, 그 삶을 포착하고, 삶의 시간을 기억하고, 재구성한다.

생각하는 시간은 우리의 삶을 만들지 않지만,

생각은 우리 삶의 시간이 흘러가지 않도록 붙든다.

이것을 가장 잘 보여주는 장르는 인터메쪼Intermezzo—간주곡일 것이다. 브람스에 의해 중요한 장르로 부상한 간주곡은, 사건에 주목하는 다른 장르와 달리, 곡이나 막 사이에서, 일어난 사건들 사이에서 우리의 주의를 환기하며 사색의 시간을 불어넣는다. 이 시간은 음악을, 그리고 우리의 삶을 더욱 생기있게 하고, 또한 우리 삶의 방향을 결정한다. 

삶에서 잠시 멈춘 순간이, 

우리의 삶을 붙드는 의미가 된다.

Within our lives,
the time of life passes by us.

Our thoughts attempt to capture it —
to remember, to reconstruct the time of life.

Thinking does not create life itself,
yet thought holds life’s time from slipping away.

The genre that reveals this most clearly is the Intermezzo — the “piece between.”
Elevated by Brahms into a form of deep introspection, the Intermezzo, unlike genres that center on events, awakens our attention between movements, between happenings, breathing reflection into the spaces in between.
This suspended time brings new vitality to music — and, in turn, to our lives — quietly shaping their direction.

A momentary pause in life becomes the very meaning that holds our life together.
